The Sonor AQ2 Stage Set in Transparent Stain Black is a five-piece drum set for advanced drummers or ambitious beginners with 7-ply drum shells made of maple. The drums are made by Sonor and are manufactured according to the proven CLTF principle, i.e. the wood layers are cross-glued at a 90° angle. The AQ2 series lugs are all equipped with the TuneSafe system for constant tuning. The bearing edges of the shells are 45°, thus creating an exact headsupport and a focused tone. The new Sonor Smart Mount Tom suspension was developed in Germany and ensures low shell contact and unhindered resonance.
Sonor AQ2: Maple drum shell
All drums of the AQ2 drums consist of seven layers of maple. Three layers of Canadian maple are covered by two layers of Asian maple each on the inside and outside. The result is a very warm and focused tone with a deep basic character. The bass drum is 7.2 mm thin and toms / Snare only 5.8 mm, this contributes significantly to the balanced and resonant sound. In addition, the individual wood layers are cross-glued at a 90° angle, so the shell remains stress-free. The lugs are all equipped with the Sonor TuneSafe system to ensure tuning reliability and constant sound. Also the exact 45° bearing edge allows easy tuning and perfect head support and focuses the sound additionally.
World first: Sonor Smart Mount
The tom-toms of the Sonor AQ2 series are suspended by the Smart Mount System. This innovative mounting system for drums was manufactured by Sonor in Germany and convinces with its minimalist design and high functionality. The suspension has only two points of contact with the drum shell and allows it to resonate freely. The Sonor Smart Mount System has a suspension rail integrated directly into the lug and a high-quality hard rubber buffer between the shell and rail for more resonance and balanced sustain.
