Description

Primarily designed for kick drums, floor-toms, and electric bass, the sE Electronics V Kick is a dynamic microphone with a supercardioid polar pattern. It's intended to be quite versatile, with four different tonalities thanks to two switches mounted on the rear of the mic. One switch controls the frequency content of the midrange, while the other changes the high-frequency capture of the V Kick.

At the heart of the V Kick is its DMC7 SB capsule, which utilizes an aluminum voice coil for a transient-rich sound and a bottom end extending low enough to record the fundamental frequencies of kick drums and basses. Its supercardioid pickup pattern ensures little bleed, helping you isolate the sound-source from other drums or cymbals. The capsule is suspended inside the mic to keep it decoupled from mechanical vibration, shocks, jolts, and other issues. The mic's all-metal housing is rugged, making the mic suitable for live use on the road. A gold-plated XLR connector helps to provide a reliable signal connection. With a windscreen built into the mic, it's already internally protected against winds, plosives, and extraneous noise. A black windscreen and a knurled nut for third-party mounting kits are included.

Tone Switches

Thanks to the integrated tone switches, you can secure a rounded midrange with a softer high end, a scooped midrange with a defined high end, or the complete opposite: A scooped midrange with a softer high-end, or a round midrange with a softer high end. This allows you to use the mic with all sorts of styles of kick drum, from big-band jazz to aggressive metal.

The same is true for basses. You can tailor this mic for something that complements a round, vintage Ampeg tone, or a more modern back-pickup style. These switches are positioned on the rear of the mic, and this helps with live-sound functionality. With different bands switching their instruments between sets, this mic can be of service in keeping changeover time to a minimum in club venues.

Note: these switches are recessed slightly into the mic body and require a small flathead screwdriver or similar implement to switch between settings.

Swivel Joint

The V KICK Black also has an integrated swivel joint that allows for easy positioning inside or outside a kick drum. Its extremely low profile allows it to fit easily through the drum head port, and the XLR cable and mic stand mount are in parallel to minimize cable clutter. Please remember to securely tighten the swivel clamp whenever adjusting it, so as to prevent the mic from sagging during a performance or recording.

DMC7 SB Capsule

The custom DMC7 SB capsule offers the same technologies and features as its siblings within the acclaimed V7 and V7 X, including the innovative, specialized aluminum voice coil. While the V7 X is optimized for most other instruments, the capsule in the V KICK has been custom-tuned for the very lowest and loudest tones.

Transient-Rich Aluminum Voice Coil

With aluminum being a much lighter material than the industry standard (copper), it delivers an open and transient-rich sound, with effortless capture of low-frequency energy and punch. The midrange is also extremely balanced, supporting the natural resonances of percussive instruments. Proven Neodymium magnets, tight production tolerances, and high workmanship ensure excellent sensitivity, high-end sound quality and superb consistency.

Durable Build Quality

The V KICK Black's road-ready chassis is all metal, with no fragile plastic parts. The chassis' high-quality, highly durable die-cast zinc alloy is designed to withhold the wear and tear of day to day tour life for years, the spring steel mesh grille is dent-proof and corrosion-free for perfect reliability, and the tightening knob for the swivel mount maintains a rock-solid hold on the V KICK Black in any position. Plus, the V KICK Black's gold-plated XLR connector ensures a loss-free and reliable signal connection for years to come.
