Description

Designed for mobile journalists, videographers, presenters, podcasters, and vloggers, the Xvive Audio U5is a true-diversity, camera-mount, digital microphone system with one microphone and a dual-channel receiver that can also be used to receive a second microphone (available separately). It offers a clear-sounding, reliable, and easy-to-use solution for recording dialog, interviews, podcasts, and speech with one person talking—directly to a mirrorless/DSLR camera.

The U5 includes a bodypack transmitter with a low-profile omnidirectional lavalier microphone. In addition to accommodating the mic, the transmitter's input also accepts line-level signals, great for connecting a mixer or recorder and transmitting to a camera.

The dual-channel receiver comes with a shoemount adapter that attaches to your camera. The receiver features two gain-control knobs to quickly adjust the recording levels. Equipped with an auto-scan function, it automatically searches and finds a clean transmission frequency to avoid unwanted dropouts. For fast setup time, the transmitter automatically pairs with the receiver. A bright OLED displays battery power, transmitters' battery life, channel, gain, clip, and mute.

The system utilizes true-diversity wireless technology on each channel to greatly enhance signal reliability, even under difficult shooting conditions. It delivers clean, 24-bit/48 kHz digital sound at a distance up to 100' with only 6ms maximum latency. Up to six microphones can be used simultaneously in the same location.

The transmitter and the receiver conveniently operate on replaceable, Xvive ID799 lithium-ion rechargeable batteries that provide up to 5 hours of operation on a full charge. You can carry spare batteries (available separately) and quickly swap them with the ones in your system, allowing you to work on extended shoots without worrying about running out of power.

Bodypack Transmitter, Omni Lavalier Mic, Mic/Line Input

  • Select Mic input for lavalier microphones or Line input for recorders and mixers.
  • The gain buttons allow you to adjust your input level.
  • The mute button turns off the microphone.
  • The transmitter is equipped with a low-cut filter to reduce traffic and appliance rumble noise.
  • A bright OLED displays battery power level, channel selected, gain, clip, and mute.
  • The low-profile lavalier microphone can be easily concealed away from the camera's eye.
  • The lav mic feature an omnidirectional polar pattern, which ensures that the sound remains consistent, even when the speaker's head moves away from the mic.

Reliable 2.4 GHz Wireless with True Diversity

  • To achieve stable audio, the U5 dual-channel receiver employs true-diversity technology with four antennas and four independent receiver sections within the unit (two for each channel). RF signals are compared, and the stronger signal is automatically selected for output—reducing dropouts to a minimum.
  • Whereas typical analog wireless systems are susceptible to interference from TV and radio waves, this digital system avoids that by operating in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, which occupies frequencies beyond those of television, radio transmissions, and UHF wireless microphone systems.
  • The system automatic changes transmission frequency to mitigate noise and dropouts at a line-of-sight distance of up to 100'. For optimal performance, environments with limited Wi-Fi/2.4 GHz traffic and minimal physical obstructions are recommended.

Two Microphones into One Receiver

  • If you need to expand your system with a second microphone, the two-channel receiver allows you to save space on your shooting rig by using a single receiver to simultaneously receive signals from two mic/transmitters.
  • You have the option to switch between mono or stereo on the receiver: recording in mono combines both microphones on both the left and right side of your audio track. Recording in stereo puts one person on the left and the other person on the right, allowing you to isolate each person's dialog and adjust each level individually later in post.
